To the Finish Line at London Marathon 2015

The London Marathon held in the spring of each year in London is one of the top five international marathons. Sponsored by Virgin Money since 2010, the marathon took place this weekend on a sunny spring Sunday of April 26 with a whopping 38,000 runners participating. The marathon is a running race with three start points spanning almost 42kms in flat routes by the Thames. There was also a London Mini Marathon for young runners aged 11-17 on a three mile stretch and a London Wheel Chair Marathon. Apart from the regular athlete fraternity, the marathon, which is a charity event and also a sporting festival attracts plenty of amateur runners and non-sporting athletes  in fancy dresses. This year too saw some of the runners in eye catching costumes of Ostrich, Spiderman and Christ amongst others.

Participation in the London Marathon for the following year is through a ballot entry with results announced in Autumn. There is also a charity entry for participation. The Virgin Money London Marathon 2016 ballot entry is open from  May 5 to May 8 5pm.
