London Sweet Shops of Yesteryear Here Today

THIS THROWBACK sweet shop in Spitalfields celebrates the confectionery sellers of yesteryear where you could pop in with your loose change and buy quarters of rhubarb and custard sweets, bon bons, gobstoppers, mints or menthol candy –  and it exists today. And all the shelves are taken up by jars of this candy and nothing else because back then economy-size Snicker bars and the like were a good few Marathons away. It has become a bit of a tourist attraction but it’s not a museum despite the antiquated shop front. You’ll be pleased to know that all the sweets at Hardys are real!
