As the week kicks off here’s a checklist of some eye-catching events across the capital which are certainly worth a look in. Keep a space for these in your social calendar.
Museums: South Africa: The Art of a Nation (British Museum). An exhibit of South Africa’s rich artistic heritage including their earliest rock art From 8 Nov to 26 Feb 2017
Theatre: Lazarus. This musical is of particular note because it is David Bowie’s final play and themed on The Man Who Fell To Earth. Kings Cross Theatre, 8 Nov – 22 Jan 2017
Art: Turner Prize 2016 (Tate Britain). Definitely Britain’s and probably the world’s No.1 art prize. Have a glance at the exhibits before the televised winning ceremony.
Music: The London Jazz Festival at various venues from Nov 11-20.
Clubs: Hip Hop Karaoke at The Social for those who want the club environment but would rather be performing than dancing to other performers. The Social, 5 Portland St, London W1W 7 JD. £5 entry.
Bars: For a bar that looks like a public lavatory check out Ladies and Gents, a cocktail bar constructed from a genuine disused Victorian public lav. 2 Highgate Rd, London NW5 1NR
Family Attractions: And for pure and uncategorised winter fun for the family check out Canary Wharf’s outdoor ice rink in Canada Square Park which includes a ringside bar for non-skaters! Tickets are priced £9.95 for adults and children.
