The official announcement for the winner of the Saatchi selfie competition was a red-carpeted affair with a champagne reception attended by leading lights from the art world. The judges, (Tracy Emin among them) voted Dawn Wooley from Cambridge the winner for her selfie The Substitute. Dawn told What’s Hot London? the inspiration behind this photo was the fact most people don’t realise that selfies are merely images and some confuse them with real representations of the female body. Judges Tracey Emin, Idris Khan, Juergen Teller, Juno Caylpso and Saatchi Gallery CEO Nigel Hurst picked her out from 14,000 entries. The competition opens the Selfie to Self Expression exhibition which celebrates the emergence of this modern art-formĀ
