A young woman enters a hotel. She is magnetic and compelling, yet strangely detached, as if in a dream; she knows everyone, yet is utterly alone; she has many lovers, but loves no one; she is 18 years old – or is she 80?
ABSENT is loosely based on the life of The Duchess of Argyll’s life during her stay at a central London hotel between the 70s and 80s who was eventually evicted after running out of friends and money.
Spread over the maze-like basements of Shoreditch Town Hall, ABSENT is being marketed as a mixture of film, installation and a haunting soundtrack by Lapalux merging the past, present and future.
