Summary:

Have you ever found a place so ridiculously, insanely out of this world cool that you simply had to shout it out from the rooftops so the whole world could know about it? Earlham Street Clubhouse is basement bar and restaurant in Covent Garden serving up NYC style pizzas and cocktails in red solo cups and it’s your new favourite place.

The place does pizza and cocktails; simple and fun. But how good could it really be? You may wonder it is hardly going to be mind blowing Michelin star stuff. You couldn’t have been more wrong!

To get in to the Clubhouse you have to walk down a flight of stairs and in to the basement and that’s where the fun begins. The lights are low and the whole place has the vibe of a 90s East Coast Clubhouse. Ah, the names makes sense now. With walls lined with vintage American highway signs, retro rock posters and of course, a juke box, the décor is a nostalgic blast from the past, a true 90s American preppy dream complete with fun and quirky touches like swivel chairs. Who doesn’t want to spin around whilst eating pizza and sipping cocktails? Note: this could be dangerous after too many of said cocktails.

Happy Hour runs at the Clubhouse every day from 5-7pm and gives you cocktails for £5! #score. Upon learning that the cocktails are served in red solo cups and all have 90s themed names along the lines of No Scrubs and Rolling With The Homies, you may not really care what you order. The gin-based Ace Ventura and The Cool Runnings are amazing and highly recommended.

On to the pizza, the Ferris Bueller ( totally rad right?) and The Baywatch are hot picks. If you’re a fan of pineapple on pizza, you simply can’t miss it. Cooked by Chef ‘Randy’ Tony, the Clubhouse pizzas are 20 inches of NYC style deliciousness. Next on this list is The Godfather.

Another fun touch that only adds to the Clubhouse experience is the use of Secret DJ, an app that allows you to select the tracks played in the Clubhouse. You simply go to the App Store, download the Secret DJ app on your phone, select Earlham Street Clubhouse from the venues list and viola, you’re the DJ now so make sure you choose some sweet tunes for everyone’s listening pleasure. There are other venues all across London that allow you to do the same, so I’d definitely advise downloading the app even if you don’t use it here – and best of all, it’s free!

The service we received was fun, friendly and flawless, all without taking itself too seriously. Throughout the night, the staff joked around and danced to the banging tunes (selected by yours truly, of course) whilst at the same time making sure we were happy and had everything we needed. It was a fantastic balance of relaxed professionalism, meaning we felt neither hassled nor ignored by the staff.

To wrap it up, the Clubhouse has it all – good cocktails, good pizza, and good vibe. So get yourself there, it’s totally rad babes. Five stars, hands down.
